Several prototypes of the WAVE CHEF were developed, designed both for integration into a standard kitchen cabinet as well as for use as a tabletop, stand-alone unit. The system features a total drying surface of 1m² and a capacity of approximately 4kg, utilizing a separate cold trap. A key design challenge was that the unit is fully enclosed on all sides except the front, requiring all heat to be discharged forward. While the machine was successfully constructed in this configuration, overall performance was limited, and servicing the internal components—particularly the pump and cooling system—proved difficult due to restricted access. Although there is strong market interest in such a compact solution, we have decided to pause further development until more suitable vacuum or cooling technologies become available that can better meet the technical and spatial constraints of the design.
